Thousands Expected to Attend Event Commemorating Growing Initiative to Increase Personal Safety for our children In New York
New York, NY – May 25th Magenu, a Brooklyn-based national non-profit dedicated to the implementation of curriculums and programs designed to increase personal safety and awareness for Jewish youth has announced it will host the second annual ‘Safety Day’ fair on Sunday, June 15, 2014 at Floyd Bennett Field in the Gateway National Recreation Area in Brooklyn, New York.
The event, which will be held from noon until 6 pm and will include prominent elected officials, community leaders, educators, and rabbonim who will address the issues impacting our community. It will feature vehicles and command centers from the New York City police department, FDNY, Hatzalah, Shomrim, and other local and national-based public safety organizations for the children to explore. The event will also include live musical performances featuring NACHAS, fire juggling acts, carnival games, a live helicopter show, and food for all. All members of public service personnel and volunteers will be educating and distributing safety literature to the thousands of attendees.
Magenu has already trained dozens of Hebrew schools and Yeshivas throughout the country by providing in-service training to the parents, staff, and student body with a full educational program and curriculum. The organization is the first of its kind to pursue a program on a national scale. In 2015, Magenu expects to train and implement curriculums in over 250 schools.
